The orphaned Mustang colt "Pepper" living in sanctuary here

Pepper broke his leg at one month old. It has healed and he has his forever home here in sanctuary.

Pepper - growing up!

Vega, who passed over in 2021 at age 42

Vega came to us at age 35. He was going to be killed and we gave him 7+ years of joy and good health in Sanctuary.

The 30 year old, rescued gelding "Bodhi" babysits "Pepper".

Bodhi comforts and guards the young colt, even sleeping beside him, lying down very carefully.

Bodhi

Bodhi lived his life as a ranch horse.

Bodhi helps babysit youngsters and new horses as they come out of quarantine. He arrived with Joe, the OTTB gelding. Both were part of a very large herd "at risk", coming to Sanctuary to live the rest of their lives being cherished.

Joe, an OTTB rescued with Bodhi, galloping in his sleep!

Joe is actually in REM sleep, needed by all horses and only possible when lying down.

His hooves were the first "order of business", to bring him comfort and healing.

Murray, Appaloosa Gelding

Murray's story

How Murray came to us

The Dharma Horses

LUNA came to us having been starved nearly to death TWICE before she was 3 years old.

LUNG TA (it means wind horse) is an Irish Draft gelding who has scars on his eyes and at some point in his past, his jaw was broken.

GITA was dumped in the desert, blind and starving. We rescued her and she will live the rest of her life in Sanctuary.

JUNIPER is a Navaho Nation, captured, spayed Mustang mare with a goiter who has her forever home here.

SAGE came to us barely able to walk. Pulling his shoes and balancing his hooves brought him back to soundness.

BREEZER came to us because his owner had multiple surgeries and he needed a soft place to land.

DREAM CAT came to us after having a foal that had to be pulled. She could not have any more babies, the breeder had taken very good care of her.

Sweet HUBBA's owner had passed over, he needed a soft place to land.

JOE (arriving with Bodhi from up north) was part of a large herd whose caretaker could no longer support. He and Bodhi came to us through APNM

TEABERRY was a competition horse who had to retire at a young age. He is in Sanctuary so he won't ever be pushed past his limitations.

ANDY was outgrown by his family years ago and came to us as a "travel size" ambassador in the days before COVID.

COMET is a captured Mustang in his 20's whose owner died and the 16 other horses were placed, but he was lame and needed us because no one wanted him.
